Roggio is a small typical Ligurian hamlet situated above the little valley of the Merula river, surrounded by olive groves, 12 km from the sea near Andora / Alassio. The nearest shops and restaurants are in Testico and Stellanello, each 2 km away

On the beach the summertime bustle takes place in large famous and also in small familiar seaside resorts, surrounding historical towns with magnificent palaces and museums. Only a few kilometers from the coast you will find small, quiet villages with winding lanes and medieval churches built of stone. Terraced olive groves gleaming silvery-gray are characteristic for the hinterland, studded by palms, fruit orchards, vines, chestnut- and oak groves. Further up there are a lot of clear streams. From everywhere you have sight of the sea and its quiet beauty.
Numerous are the lovely coastal towns with many beaches within short range: Alassio (old seaside resort with a burly medieval center and many restaurants); Laigueglia (vital small former fishing village); Imperia (historical seaport reaching out into the hills with a classical cathedral).
Trips can be made into the Ligurian hinterland, e.g. the Arroscia valley and Pieve di Teco (medieval town with rambling arcades). The Seealps (Alpi Maritimi) and the Piemont with its numerous historic sites are short distance away. In an hour's drive you can reach Nice and Monte Carlo on the Côte d'Azur. Further possibilities: Stalactite caves of Toirano, annual music festival in Cervo, day trips to Turin or Genoa or to the famous Cinque Terre, Portofino and Rapallo.
